Recently, the View Royal Emergency Social Services (ESS) joined forces with Colwood ESS, and now operates as one team under the leadership of Janet Cambrey, the Colwood/View Royal ESS Director.
Colwood/View Royal ESS maintains a vital role in our community’s emergency program. They provide short-term assistance to our residents who are forced to leave their homes because of fire, earthquakes or other emergencies. This assistance includes food, lodging, clothing, emotional support and family reunification. They also provide support to local emergency services during extended operations, participate in public education for emergency preparedness, and assist in the maintenance of emergency supplies for our reception centres.
Our ESS team is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in serving their community and taking part in providing a valuable commitment to the public. Training is provided through the Provincial Emergency Program and the Justice Institute of BC free of charge. The team meets on the last Wednesday of every month.
